COMMANDERS CAMP: POTOMAC
Commanders Camps are all about that ball! Whether you’re a first-time player or a long-time baller, you’ll find the same thing in this program: a place to play, a chance to improve, a week full of friendly competition.
A program where the mission is always the same: Get Better. Have Fun.
Run by Flag Star Football’s team of positive, high-energy coaches, campers will get tons of instruction and gameplay in a team-first, values-driven environment. We’re about schemes, we’re about skills, we’re about team and we’re about that work!
Each day is divided between drills, stations and games (alongside water breaks, team meetings and white-board sessions). And each camp week will have a guest appearance by a Washington Commanders Legend!!

A Day in the Life…
Each day, we’ll put our group through their paces! After a group warm-up (a chance to warm up our bodies, as well as our hands) and a morning meeting (featuring our theme of the day), campers will start the day's curriculum with skill building and game-simulated concepts/competitions. This is the high-rep, high-growth part of our day.
After getting our "work" done in the morning, we get into our games. Each team will play two games a day, led by a designated coach to help practice/implement real concepts and defenses.
Players come to camp for football and they'll get plenty of it. They'll also get water-breaks, shade-breaks, film-sessions, guest-speakers and alternative games to keep spirits high, body-temps cool and our camp weeks positive, productive and value-driven.

Frequently asked questions
What makes this a “Commanders” Camp?
Good question. The Commanders fingerprints are all over this program. In addition to a Commanders ‘Fan Pack’ (camp t-shirt included!) and Commanders’ game-film (for mid-camp film study), each camp week will have a guest appearance by (and opportunity to take a photo with…) a Washington Commanders Legend.
Day to day logistics are run by Flag Star Football and their team of coaches, although Flag Star and The Commanders collaborate closely to ensure Commanders Camps are the best the DMV has to offer!
WHO IS ‘FLAG STAR FOOTBALL’ AND WHAT IS THEIR ROLE?
Flag Star Football is our operating partner for all Commanders Camps. They’re local, they’re experienced and their die-hard Commanders fans!
For 11 years now, Flag Star has been the leading youth flag provider in the DMV. They run year-round programming (Fall/Winter/Spring leagues throughout the DMV) and have an unbelievable group of coaches. Their programming north-star is a focus on Getting Better and Having Fun and employ positive, encouraging coaches to deliver on that mission.
If you have any questions during this process (registration, logistics, etc), they are readily available by e-mail (HQ@flagstarfootball.com) or phone (571) 475-9715.
Are these camps coed?
Absolutely! We love our female ballers and want more to join us! This is an open-enrollment, co-ed camp.
If you’re looking for an all-girls camp, you can also see those options here.
Who else can participate in camp?
Everyone. This is a camp for all ballers and all skill-levels. If this is your first time playing, no worries! We’ll take the extra time/care to get your baller up to speed.
And if you’re an experienced player… come get that work! We’ll have the drills, instruction and competitive games to help everyone improve their game.
Do you offer financial aid?
Yes!! And you can apply for that here.
Financial Aid applications are vetted individually (and quickly) through the Flag Star Football Foundation, but the general rule is, if you’re eligible for Free and Reduced Lunch … you’ll be eligible for financial aid.
It’s really hot in D.C. in the summer, will the kids have reprieve from the heat?
Absolutely! We give the kids plenty of rest and lots of indoor/shade time. We take heat safety seriously and we are always pushing hydration stations!
Bottom line: no one is happy when the kids are too hot. Not only is it a safety issue, but an obstacle in the way of a great week. We monitor this all closely.
My child has never done a Flag program before. will this be a good fit?
Absolutely - In some ways, this is the perfect introduction to Flag Star. A week of fun with lots of other kids looking for friends and new teammates.
What do you guys do for lunch?
For $50/week (or $10/day), we will provide daily meals of pizza, fruit and drinks. Your child is welcome to bring a lunch as well! Be aware that a refrigerator/microwave on site is not guaranteed.
Is this the best camp in the country?
Yes. Everything we do is aimed at making this the best camp on earth.
